Wild animal tee shirts

I am learning to sketch a wild animal and transfer my drawing to a tee shirt.  I used special fabric markers to colour in my design.

Numbers to 10

I am learning to recognise numbers to 10 and place them in order.

"I can count up to 10. I know my numbers" said Isabelle

Reading out loud

We are learning to read familiar poems out loud. We are trying to read with fluency and expression. As we get more confident, we can pay attention to the author's punctuation to help our reading sound more interesting.

"I can sound out words I don't know when I read out loud. I can read loudly so everyone can hear" said Isabelle

Wonderful writing

At writing time we are learning to write all the sounds we can hear in words. This means we listen for the beginning , middle and end sounds.

"I can do quality work. I don't scribble anymore!"

First and last sounds

I am learning to look at the first and last sounds in words to help me work out new words. Here I am looking at a picture and writing the sounds.

Rocket ship

We have been learning about the solar system this term.  We made a rocket with paper and a straw then blew through the straw to see how far our rocket would travel.  

Measuring Fun

 We were learning to compare similar objects that differ only in length. We were experimenting  with learning to measure with non-standard units.  We were learning to have an accurate starting and finishing point when we measure and use measuring language. 

"I have to remember to count properly when I do this. I like measuring."

Phonics Time

Phonics lessons are a very important part of our Writing programme. In this photo I am learning to hear and record the first and the last sound in new words. 

  "I am learning letters. My mum and dad help me to learn."

Planets

I am learning to write one sentence using my finger spaces.

"I can write about Mercury." said Isabelle

Number Munchers

Matariki

Our classroom celebrated Matariki, which is the Maori New Year. We came to school in our pyjamas and had a yummy breakfast together! It is great to share time with our whanau.


"My pyjama's were fluffy. My mum came to help make toast. I can do my own toast."

My marvellous parents

My Mum and Dad came to a parent workshop at night. They tried out lots of different games to help me with my reading and writing. It was lots of fun being at school when it was dark!
